All OEM catalytic converters are made from a ceramic substrate and usually incorporate a 400 CPSI (Cells Per Square Inch) design. Factory cats are designed purely with the intention to reduce the toxicity of exhaust emissions, but from a performance perspective, they act as a block in the exhaust system, hindering flow and robbing horsepower. This is especially prevalent in newer vehicles which have to comply with tighter emissions standards and motors with forced induction.
